| Near-Miss Management LLC provides a uniquely effective, enterprise risk detection and advanced warning platform for the process and energy industries. Our approach is based on identifying near-misses, hidden in volumes of process data recorded in plants. Patented analytics rip through millions of data points to identify developing problems at very early stages and allow operating teams to avert unexpected failures through timely corrective actions.
Described as 'disruptive innovation’ by customers, our methods are enabling proactive management to increase both safety and profitability. Our technology has been developed through years of research in solving common challenges faced by industrial facilities – providing us a unique expertise in risk management, near-miss management and big data analytics technology. | PRINCEPS is an R&D intensive company. We have conducted a significant R&D effort in cooperation with academic organisations in Europe (PRINCEPS is the initiator and coordinator of several EU funded projects).
Strong with more than 15 years field experience through planning and scheduling projects worldwide, we have developed an innovative software suite which introduces a new paradigm in this domain.
Most importantly, PRINCEPS has developed over the years, a strong working partnership with its clients, which is at the foundation of its customer oriented culture.
The Oil industry is one of the pioneers in the widespread adoption of optimization techniques. The term “Refinery optimization” has consequently evolved to become a multi-faceted concept.
At an abstract level, refinery optimization is about getting the most from the existing assets; by extension, it can also refer to the most profitable investments in new equipment or new assets. This first distinction gives rise to 2 horizons of application to refinery optimization: long term, structural optimization, and short term operations optimization. Moreover, operations management itself can be addressed in a variety of ways, depending on whether the approach taken to refinery optimization is bottom-up, or top-down:
The top-down approach is based on hierarchical optimization: the refinery optimization problem is addressed as a succession of optimization problems of different time magnitudes and granularities. The first problem is a mid-term planning problem and is concerned with the refinery as a whole and a time frame of one to several months. Subsequently, the time frame is subdivided into finer time intervals. At the lowest level, the theoretical goal is to achieve operations scheduling on a day to day basis.
The bottom-up approach is one that starts with local problems and tries to aggregate them into a consistent solution at the refinery level.
In contrast to traditional bottom-up approaches – which attempt to build an overall solution by aggregating local solutions – we start by achieving a feasible, “good quality” overall solution using our smart simulation engine. Then, guided by the consistent overall solution, we seek to optimize local operational challenges.
Our innovative approach to refinery optimization takes account of 2 crucial facts:
- Day-to-day operations are subject to uncertainty,
- Regardless of the inherent formal difficulty of achieving an overall refinery schedule optimization, an overall optimized schedule is of little use.
This is simply because an overall solution achieved that way is inherently unstable: the slightest change or unforeseen event means that the whole schedule must be rebuilt. And given the huge amount of inertia in such a large system, any sudden change of trajectory consumes an equally huge amount of energy.
Under this pragmatic perspective, refinery optimization appears as the search for a maintainable globally feasible, locally optimized schedule. Optimization is applied to sub-systems where a high economic impact is achievable. | Sparks Dynamics provides Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) intelligent solutions to our manufacturing customers that enhance business profitability through smart systems that continuously monitor energy, security, and equipment status. This continuous verification allows for increased efficiencies, reliability and business continuity.
Our state of the art cloud based Remote Monitoring Analytics System Technology for Efficiency and Reliability (ReMASTER) product provides an intelligent monitoring solution with data analytics and specially developed Artificial Intelligence that ensures operating parameters remain within the performance envelope.
Sparks Dynamics provides consulting services, energy audits, system integration, equipment sourcing, project management, and financing services to optimize the industrial customer’s utility systems. These systems are then remotely monitored with specially developed software algorithms for automatic fault detection and diagnostics. |

Open and Closed Loop Control | The Internet of Things (IoT) brings countless disruptive opportunities to the Enterprise. Any company can exploit IoT capabilities to optimize the use of resources, business processes, product quality. Moreover, Enterprises can then create innovative business models and competitive ‘pay per use’ or hybrid models for their industrial products, and additional services developed using ‘things information’. By creating its own Internet of Things Enterprises can get full and continuous information from devices, machines and systems, enable control and interactions, and use these features in new or existing business applications. This is why in Alleantia they talk about the Internet Of Own Things (IOOT), that every company must implement for supporting its specific business. | Data acquisition devices for IoT & Big Data applications form the backbone of our products. Energy management is an especial core competence, for which we have advanced solutions.
ionSign is platform agnostic, our products communicate to your bespoke data system, or the commercial cloud of your choice - MS Azure, AWS, Bluemix, or our own ionSign Cloud. | | In many industries, small and midsize companies are coming under enormous competitive pressures, that were almost impossible to see a few years ago. If they do not respond with innovation, they risk being disrupted and made obsolete. Many of these companies are stuck with legacy systems and replacing them is too expensive.

| Dynamic Risk Analyzer™ (DRA) has been proven to improve safety, reliability, and on-stream efficiency in industrial plant operations. It delivers actionable, early indicators of process issues – typically days and weeks before the alarms go off. What makes it unique is our distinctive, patented approach of identifying hidden near-misses™ in the process data. This enables the operating teams to avert problems just when they are beginning to form, to plan Predictive Maintenance, and to achieve ultimate safety and bottom line.
Reduces Unexpected Shutdowns and Process Failures - DRA is designed to uncover hidden problems, so you can stay focused on finding solutions, not hunting for problems.
Increases On-Stream Efficiency and Capacity Utilization - DRA provides peripheral vision on issues developing on the sidelines, enabling you to address new risks and their drivers.
Improves Process Safety and Reliability - What makes DRA unique is its ability to rip through the entire spectrum of process data, uncovering problems, long before humans or alarms can. | PRINCEPS’ scheduling technology represents a technology leap through a variety of innovative features, such as:
- The capability to dynamically modify events during simulation, making a schedule self-adjust its events to the simulation results
- Schedules and models archiving and “versioning”, merge different branches from different users, or rolling back schedule changes as needed
- Smooth and continuous transition between model versions within the same schedule | |
