The Customer
Greenflex
About The Customer
GreenFlex has been supporting companies and territories in their sustainable development, decarbonization, and energy efficiency issues for over 12 years. The company has developed a unique multi-expertise model structured around three services: environmental and societal consulting, implementation of energy and low-carbon performance projects, and financing of the transition. Their success relies largely on a digital platform for managing action plans, GreenFlexIQ. With this model, GreenFlex is accelerating the transformation of 750 clients and is committed to creating economic, environmental, and social value with each of them.
The Challenge
GreenFlex, a company that supports sustainable development, decarbonization, and energy efficiency, faced several challenges in its quest to expand its business. The company needed to deploy a robust and sustainable IoT technology to support its growth. It was crucial for them to monitor and control devices at customer sites in a safe and reliable manner. They also needed to integrate devices across a range of communication protocols and gather and act on data to meet efficiency targets. GreenFlex had previously built IoT capabilities into its digital platform, GreenFlexIQ, to monitor and manage customer sites remotely. However, they soon realized that they needed a new platform to support their ambitions. They needed a platform that could scale to connect more devices for production management and make it easier for the operations team to manage devices in the field.
The Solution
GreenFlex identified Software AG’s Cumulocity IoT Platform as the optimal solution to their challenges. The Cumulocity IoT platform provided GreenFlex with a robust, high-performance solution to manage thousands of devices across customer sites. The implementation was fast and simple, helping GreenFlex save costs and accelerate the growth of its energy efficiency services. The platform was modular, agile, scalable, multicountry, and multifunction, meeting all of GreenFlex's criteria. Developers found the start-up easy and administration simple. Streamlined device management and integration were especially valuable as GreenFlex was actively adding new projects, onboarding new teams, and updating client devices. Software AG also offered training and customization, helping GreenFlex get the most value from the IoT platform quickly and become self-sufficient. The platform also allowed GreenFlex to connect a wide range of customer devices across thousands of sites, track site performance in real time, take action remotely, and combine real-time with historic data in new ways.

Predictive Maintenance for Industrial Chillers
For global leaders in the industrial chiller manufacturing, reliability of the entire production process is of the utmost importance. Chillers are refrigeration systems that produce ice water to provide cooling for a process or industrial application. One of those leaders sought a way to respond to asset performance issues, even before they occur. The intelligence to guarantee maximum reliability of cooling devices is embedded (pre-alarming). A pre-alarming phase means that the cooling device still works, but symptoms may appear, telling manufacturers that a failure is likely to occur in the near future. Chillers who are not internet connected at that moment, provide little insight in this pre-alarming phase.
