About The Customer
LSG Sky Chefs is the brand name of LSG Lufthansa Service Holding AG, which is the world's largest provider of airline catering and in-flight services.
The Challenge

Because of the scale of the facility and its reliance upon automated conveyor systems, technical information such as alarm or failure messages were dicult to dispatch to onsite staff who could not actively communicate with logistics and production engineers when outside the control room. This delayed response times and increase meant system downtime, often causing fresh produce to be wasted.

The Solution

Working with SCHAD, LSG Sky Chefs is using EXTEND7000 integrated to a highly secure mobile SCADA system, which in turn, is integrated with their automated logistics and production controllers. The system uses existing Wi-Fi or GPRS infrastructure and BlackBerry smartphones to give service staff and engineer 'anywhere-anytime' alerts, providing a low cost, functionally rich mobile control and monitoring solution.
