The Customer
About The Customer
Steffes is an OEM metal manufacturer with the resources to take any project from concept to completion with more than 250 employees.
The Challenge

Steffes Corp. wanted to transform individual space and water heaters into fast-response energy storage groups. Utilities can command this system of groups as a grid stabilization tool to address the problem of damaging power fluctuations created by highly variable and unpredictable renewable energy sources.

The Solution

Steffes partnered with Mesh Systems to design and deploy an IoT Smart Energy application that connects each space or water heater in order to control them as groups. Built on the MESHVista IoT platform, the Smart Energy system, GETS, combines unit metering, standard load management and proprietary smart grid technology to provide an extremely fast response system while doing so very cost effectively. Operational Impact
  • [Efficiency Improvement - Energy]
The amount of energy used in lighting was lowered and made more efficient.
  • [Cost Reduction - Energy]
Total cost of ownership is lowered due to reduction in energy cost.
